The Ljutomer Trotter Museum opened in 2012 and is dedicated to the history and development of harness racing and the ljutomerski kasač (Ljutomer trotter) thoroughbred, both dating back to 1874 when the first race was organised. Already a year later the Ljutomer Trotter Club was established, which makes it one of the oldest in Europe. The museum is situated within its premises in the vicinity of the stables and racecourses.
The museum collection was acquired from 43 local horse-breeding families and includes an old hand-made racing cart from 1899, trophies and awards, as well as documentary material selected from over 3,000 collected photographs and 140 museum artifacts. The children can enjoy the Jona's corner with a short film hosted by a playful mare. The permanent exhibition was prepared in collaboration with the Ptuj Regional Museum.
