The sections in the journal include: Poetry, Prose, Encyclopaedia of Living Writers (essays and theory), Interview, The Last Course (translation of new forms and contents), Translation, Revisor (critical texts on ideological models), Front Line and Marginal Notes (critiques). Every year, a thematic section of texts is dedicated to a certain author (for example, Derrida, Deleuze, Perec, Ashbery, de Man) or genre (science fiction, crime novels) or issue (such as women's writing, erotic literature, literature and esoterica, new historicism).
The 50th-anniversary issue of Literatura presented contributions to Slovene literature by 11 authors, and an analysis of the state of Slovene literature and its perspectives.
The year 2019 marked the thirtieth anniversary of the beginning of its independent publishing; in order to celebrate, they launched a competition for an essay on new Slovene literature.
