Programme
The annual programme comprises two semesters, first one is more theory oriented, second one is practical: based on the regular weekly meetings under the guidance of tutors is dedicated to the concept and realisation of an exhibition of contemporary art, which is accompanied with the catalogue including also texts of students. The thirteenth version (2010/2011) will feature the exhibition at the Alkatraz Gallery, one of partners of the school. The actual edition is attained by 11 students working with tutors Nevenka Šivavec and Jože Barši, further with Zemira Alajbegović Pečovnik, Branislav Dimitrijević, Neven Korda, Petja Grafenauer, and Suzana Milevska as workshop tutors and Jana Intihar Ferjan, Alenka Pirman, Branka Stipančić, Miško Šuvaković, and Rebeka Vidrih as lecturers.
Within lectures of the spring semester (April-June) the latest edition in 2010 offers also an overview of the 20th century artistic practices, trends, socio-political contexts and key shifts in the understanding, thematising, analysis and historical positioning of fine arts. Beside paying attention to the lectures on the structure of art system in Slovenia and its correspondence with the international context, the World of the Art also opens topics of video as a tool and strategy of artistic expression. Beside visits of exhibitions and artists studios the school offers also the workshop to improve and familiarise the students with the history and theory of art criticism and curatorial concepts.
