Launched in 1995 by the Video Section of the MKC Maribor Youth Culture Centre, the International Festival of Computer Arts (IFCA) is the longest-running computer arts festival in Slovenia, which over the years has presented all of the most important new media artists from around the country. Guests at the first festival of 1995 were also international young artists and well-known guests such as Stelarc, Lisa Brandt, Jacek Szleszynski, Petra de Njis, and Paul Sermont. Subsequent guests have included Chico MacMurtrie, Rosanne (Sandy) Stone, Olia Lianina, Rachel Armstrong, Arthur Elsenaar, Stahl Stenslie, Marcel-Li Antunez Roca, David Link, Constanze Ruhm, Orhan Kipcak, Markus Huemer, etc.

IFCA's programme is prepared in collaboration with various institutions such as Museum of Contemporary Arts Zagreb, Maribor Art Gallery, and Uho; oko: Institute, and includes exhibitions, AV live events, competitions, workshops, symposia, and since 2010 also an archivist-in-residence position.
