Josip Vošnjak Library in Slovenska Bistrica was established in 1965 and is named after Slovene politician, writer, and physician Josip Vošnjak, who also worked in Slovenska Bistrica. The facility affords its members a rich and up-to-date collection of materials for lifelong learning, studies, and pastime reading. It runs branches in Poljčane, Oplotnica, Pragersko, Kebelj, Tinje, and Makole, as well as a mobile library service.

Library-goers can make use of the newspaper reading room, which offers a wide array of newspaper and magazine titles, and the study reading room, furnished with dictionaries, handbooks, encyclopaedias and other material. A local collection department is maintained at the library, preserving material on the region. In addition to borrowing book and non-book materials, members may take part in various lectures, literary evenings and book presentations, storytelling hours, puppet shows and other presentations. The library tries to cater for special needs users by providing audiobooks, and a computer designed for the blind and visually impaired. The library premises are also wheelchair accessible.
