The [[KoupaFest]] international festival of music, sport and art is organised annually at Camp Podzemelj in Bela Krajina, on the banks of the Kolpa river in Slovenia’s southern border area with Croatia. It is intended primarily for young people, who are offered the opportunity to participate in various interesting social and artistic activities and encounter different cultures. Each year the event and its beautiful surroundings attract more than 10,000 people from across Slovenia and its importance grows with the increasing number of foreign media and visitors. Since its inception in 2000, KoupaFest has featured a wide variety of artistic groups from Italy, Croatia, Germany, the USA and Slovenia (Cubismo, Mambo Kurt, [[Demolition Group]], Belfast Food, Schatzi, Dälek, El Bahattee, Bitch Boys, The Authentics, De Phazz). KoupaFest is organised by Klub belokranjskih študentov Student Union and Bela Krajina Youth Council in association with the Students’ Organisation of Ljubljana University. KoupaFest also promotes the cultural heritage of the region by featuring a small market with home-made products and food, local games and a regional cultural programme Art Stage, as well as workshops which aim to present traditional Bela Krajina to visitors. All visitors have free access to the Internet at Cyberia. Visitors can buy a three-day pass or a one-day ticket and must bring a tent and a sleeping bag.
