In 2001 Noctiferia recorded their second album Per Aspera, which indicated reorientation to more extreme/death metal. In 2002 the group toured Spain and Italy with Malevolent Creation, Immolation, and Marduk.
Their third album Slovenska Morbida [Slovene Morbidness] (2006) was again different from the previous one – including various cultural influences from female vocals, unknown sounds for metal, and strange national instruments. The band flew to Sweden to The Abyss studio and started mixing the album with Peter Tägtgren. The album received some good reviews in the international metal sub-world.
