Managed byRadio Slovenia

ARS, the Third channel of Radio Slovenia, is currently being broadcast via 12 transmitters around Slovenia. It was launched in 1969 as the third radio programme of Radio Slovenia and aimed at specific audience. This programme brings more seriously-oriented cultural programming (classical music, opera, literature, philosophy, humanities, and science) for connoisseurs and music lovers. The programme scheme includes regular presentations of concerts by the RTV ensembles (such as RTV Slovenia Big Band).

The channel offers a platform to both music students and acclaimed, high-profile artists. Its evening programme includes live transmissions of chamber, choral, symphonic, and operatic music. ARS also features a calendar of cultural events, as well as various series of essays.

International cooperation

Since 1998, the third programme of Radio Slovenia broadcasts the night show European Classical Nocturne. Devoted to classical music, the radio show was launched by the members of the Euroradio network, including Great Britain, Ireland, Norway, Denmark, Netherlands, and Slovenia. The show is aired on a daily basis for the whole night via the BBC studios in London.

Radio ARS, as one of the members of the festival, regularly participates with its radio plays and other radio production at the annual world event Prix Italia, an international competition for radio, television and web, from Torino.

EBU Art's Birthday Party

Radio ARS is a part of the European radio network which celebrates the EBU Art's Birthday Party - Euroradio Ars Acustica Special Evening, devoted to celebrate the memory of Robert Filliou, who declared, on 17 January 1963, that Art had been born exactly 1,000,000 years ago when someone dropped a dry sponge into a pail of water. On this occasion, in 2011 the Radio ARS broadcast included a twenty-minute show of improvised radio happening entitled »di-ba baab, di-ja beu© --- fantazija za kvazi flavto« (by Bor Turel and Gregor Pirš) and devoted to men living in the Stone Age.
