Published annually since 1998, Studia Mythologica Slavica is a scientific journal whose aims are to investigate Slavic mythology in all its facets, to facilitate its reconstruction, and to promote the mythopoetic and religious traditions of the Slavic nations. It is published by the Institute of Slovene Ethnology at the Scientific Research Centre (ZRC SAZU) of the Slovene Academy of Science and Arts. Since 1999 the University of Udine, Italy has acted as co-publisher.


Overseen by an international advisory board, Studia Mythologica Slavica brings to the fore in-depth examinations of Slavic mythopoetic traditions and comparative studies of the mythology and religious notions of older Slavic, Eurasian, and other civilisations. The character of the publication is both international and interdisciplinary, covering an exciting range of themes from the fields of ethnology, philology, history, archaeology, religious studies, history of literature, and philosophy.
