| + | South of Šentjur rises the outstanding Rifnik Hill, the conical form of which adorns the Voglajna Valley with a special charm. The summit of this hill was settled from the very earliest times, with the deceased being buried on the hillsides or in the valley. [[Rifnik Archaeological Site|Archaeological excavations]] have unearthed evidence of three different periods of prehistoric settlement dating from the Late Bronze Age to the Early Iron Age, but much has been reburied because a presentation from three different periods would be too chaotic. Today the remains of a late classical settlement are arranged 'on the mountain', as the natives proudly call it. The renovated parts include the foundations of a house, a wall with watch towers, the remains of two Early Christian churches and a large water cistern. | ||
