[[Emona Folklore Group]] was established in Autumn 1967 by Dr Bruno Ravnikar. Since that time approximately 1,600 dancers and musicians have participated in its programmes, which have included the folkloric dances of all the former Yugoslav regions. Today the group consists of around 60 dancers who present a repertory programme of 16 choreographers featuring folk dances and songs of all the Slovene regions. The Emona Folklore group has toured throughout Europe, most recently to Portugal, and has presented the Slovene cultural heritage in such places as the Americas, Algeria and North Korea. The group has its own ethno-music and tambour orchestra that has produced two music CDs.
