It was named after Musica Danubiana festival, (MD), later renamed in [[Unicum Contemporary Music Festival]], with the number 7 representing 7 instruments: flute, clarinet, trombone, viola, violoncello, keyboard and percussion. The majority of the ensemble's repertoire consists of new works which have been written especially for this unique instrumental combination by many distinguished home and foreign composers ([[Lojze Lebič]], I. Petrić, G. Coral, S. Lerescu, A. Laporte, J.-L. Darbelley, [[Jani Golob]], [[Nana Forte]]), Harue Kunieda, Chan Wing Wah, Sukhi Kang, Zygmunt Krauze and Giampaolo Coral. The ensemble performs in Slovenia and also abroad (Vienna, Trieste, Bucharest, Dublin, Seoul) and has operated under the artistic guidance of composer [[Pavel Mihelčič]] since their formation. The conductor of the ensemble is Steven Loy. They have commissioned and premiered nearly 70 works and have recorded 7 CDs. |
