Background
The roots of Slovene librarianship in Austrian Carinthia date back to the 1920s. In 1927 the Slovene Education Association, formerly known as the Slovene Christian Social Association, founded the first central library, which later became the Slovene Study Library. During World War II a large part of its collection was destroyed or confiscated. Gradually, the library was reconstructed, and its collection has been increasing in size ever since.
