The 4th Primož Ramovš Competition in 2012 was organised under the auspices of Radio-Television Slovenia (RTV Slovenia) and the Society of Slovene Composers in the Ljubljana Music and Ballet Conservatory. Its artistic director has always been Tomaž Lorenz.
The competition is today run in three age categories: up to the average age of 20, 25, or 30 years. Groups in each age category must play two obligatory pieces: one work of a Slovene artist and one work from a world composer.
