Woodshed Puppet Studio was founded in 1990, and staged its first puppet show The Play about the Beastly Wolf by Milan Dekleva in the following year, performing it almost 60 times and later releasing it on cassette. Since that time it has created numerous other shows, notably Hopa-Hop by Alenka Pirjevec and Bor Turel, and the audio-figurative performance Premene (2001), for which Alenka Pirjevec received an award. The studio made its own puppets and is also a successful producer of mascots.

The studio has not been active for some years while Alenka Pirjevec collaborates on puppetry projects with several theatre houses.
