Programme
Its exhibition programme includes all genres of contemporary art, presenting up to 10 exhibitions each year. The specific circular shape of the space represents a special creative challenge for artists, and enables a very personal experience of the artworks. Recent solo exhibitions featured Jaša, Natalija Šeruga, Andraž Šalamun, Jernej Skrt, Ksenija Čerče, Olga Danelone, Rajko Bizjak, and Gorazd Krnc. In 2008 solo presentations of Aleksij Kobal, Lujo Vodopivec, and Bojan Štokelj were on view. In 2008 a very rich year of group exhibits for Nova Gorica City Gallery included the project Aesthetics of the New Millennium (Selected Works of Slovenian Contemporary Art from the City Gallery Collection: Uršula Berlot, Viktor Bernik, Miha Boljka, Boštjan Drinovec, Arjan Pregl, Primož Pugelj, Miha Štrukelj, Sašo Vrabič). A multimedia exhibition entitled Data Collision of four artists or collective (Hans H. Diebner, Florian Grond, BridA, Dragan Živadinov) was featured in April 2008. In 2010 exhibitions of Duša Jesih, the Slovene group Wild in Heart, Mitja Ficko and Roberto Kusterle are planned.
In spring 2009 Nova Gorica City Gallery featured exhibits of photos and graphics entitled Eros Kalos curated by Brane Kovič presenting various international artists like Nobuyoshi Araki, Nan Goldin, André Masson, Helmut Newton, Pablo Picasso, Man Ray – Emmanuel Rudnitsky, Pierre-Auguste Renior, Egon Schiele, Jeanloup Sieff, Miroslav Šutej, Shu Takahashi, Sam Taylor-Wood, Andy Warhol, and Tom Wesselmann.
As well as mounting exhibitions, Nova Gorica City Gallery is the site of various talks on contemporary visual arts, fine arts workshops for children, and guided exhibition tours for the public.
The gallery also runs interdisciplinary programmes and concerts, and is the co-presenter of and main venue for the Pixxelpoint International Festival of Computer Art, which saw its 10th edition in 2009.
