Recent themes of the seminar have included 'Between the Rational and the Irrational in Architecture' (2003), 'Architect and Society' (2004) and 'Architectural Politics' (2005). Accompanying exhibitions have also taken place; in 2005 the central exhibition took place in the Piran City Gallery and featured recent architectural achievements from Austria, Italy, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Croatia and Slovenia.
Since 1989 the Piranesi Award has been conferred on the best architectural achievement. The jury also confers three Piranesi mentions as well as a Student Piranesi award.
