Established in July 2007 and located in the oldest street of medieval Ptuj, the Salon of Art, focused on the contemporary arts, is the youngest space of the Ptuj – Ormož Regional Museum. It annually features up to six exhibitions. Group exhibitions often correspond to the programme in the Mihelič Gallery.

At first, the Salon of Art was dedicated to solo exhibitions of local artists, but since 2009 it also features the work of international contemporary artists, invited in collaboration with the Art Stays Cultural Association.


Exhibitions

The first exhibition showcased the painters of the 20th century from Ptuj including artworks by France Mihelič, Janez Šibila, Albin Lugarič, Dušan Kirbiš, Dušan Fišer, and Viktor Rebernak, the following exhibition presented the Talum Art Collection.

In past years, the gallery has exhibited sculptures by Vlasta Zorko and ceramic sculptures of Gaja Kobav. In 2011 the Salon of Art presented the cycle of 8 tapestries by Marij Pregelj, designed in 1966 and restored by the Ptuj – Ormož Regional Museum. Among artists presented in recent years are members of the Kasimir Oeltjen family, Srdan Mohorič and others.
