Launched in 1992, the Gracious Comedy Awards are presented at the traditional Days of Comedy festival, organised by the Slovene People’s Theatre (SLG) Celje. In addition to the annual competition for the best comedy performance, director, actor and actress, every second year since 1996, the festival bestows the Gracious Comedy Quill Award to an original Slovenian comedy text and the best comedy author.

The Gracious Comedy Actor Awards are conferred by the expert jury which also grants the Gracious Comedy Award and Gracious Director Award.

The first (and multiple) prize winner of the Gracious Comedy Quill Award was Vinko Möderndorfer, followed by Mate Dolenc, Janez Povše, and Rok Vilčnik.
