Since 1997 the Architects' Society of Ljubljana (DAL) represents the professional interests of about 370 members, primarily in debates with relevant state and municipal governmental structures. The professional association of architects and other citizens offers current information about local and international bids, competitions, prizes, educational events and legal advice. The DAL is also a founder of the renowned Plečnik Award that is granted annually by the Plečnik Fund.

Since July 2007 the Architects' Society of Ljubljana office has also functioned as the headquarters of the revived Union of Slovene Architects' Societies.

Exhibitions and Projects

Every two years DAL is presenting projects of its members at the exhibition Architecture – Inventory that takes place at the Cankarjev dom Culture and Congress Centre.

A critical view on the development of the city Ljubljana is presented with the series of exhibitions and lectures named Visions. The fifth edition was organised at the Kresija Gallery in November 2009.

In 2006 the Society launched a project 20th Century Architectural Heritage in collaboration with the Trajekt Institution for Urban Culture in order to promote and protect modern monuments. Blue and white information plates (containing information on the name of the building, its authors, and a year of the construction) that are used worldwide for marking cultural heritage were placed at each selected property, indicating that it has been included in the campaign.
