The jury selects five nominees from 30 to 40 submitted proposals which are then allowed to wear the trade-mark of the Original Slovene Picture Book. The award-winning book is announced at a special event. Most of the recently awarded books have been published by Mladinska knjiga Publishing House and illustrated by Zvonko Čoh, Lila Prap, Andreja Peklar, Jelka Reichman, Peter Škerl, Suzi Bricelj, and Matjaž Schmidt.
