The Municipality of Gornja Radgona covers a total area of 128 square kilometres and has a population of 12,310 people (2002) living in 51 settlements. Located close to the border with Austria, Gornja Radgona was a part of Bad Radkesburg until 1918. In 1968 a bridge was built across the Mura River.
