The Hiše Awards 2010 event opened with 180˚ Stage, a series of challenging short talks on the theme "What makes a good house?". The exhibition of the world's greatest houses took place in the beautiful surroundings of Ljubljana city centre's Riverfront Breg, renovated by Atelje Vozlič. The Hiše Award for Sustainable Excellence went to Tuomas Toivonen from the studio NOW for Architecture and Urbanism, for a project Lakeside house at the Saimaa lake in Finland. The Hiše Award for Innovative Excellence was awarded to Elding Oscarson for a Townhouse in Landskrona in Sweden.
Hiše Awards 09 winners were House Twisted in Kyoto and Villa Röling on the outskirts of Amsterdam. The project House Twisted by Kentaro Takeguchi and Asako Yamamoto – Alphaville studio, Japan, won Hiše Award 09 for Innovative Excellence in Private Housing. Villa Röling by Architectenbureau Paul de Ruiter, Netherlands, won Hiše Award 09 for Sustainable Excellence in Private Housing.
