The Golden Bird Awards are granted to young innovative artists who have delivered new contents and aesthetic procedures and whose work demonstrates a different understanding of production, presentation, and distribution of artworks. Since 2004, the jury also awards the Golden Nest Award, aimed at encouragement of creating production conditions that enhance the very creativity awarded with the Golden Bird Awards.
The recipients of the 2008 Golden Bird Awards are: Vesna Lemaić for literature, Daša Doberšek for performing arts, Luka Juhart for music, Mark Požlep for visual arts, and Marko Naberšnik for film. The Golden Nest Award went to Odprti krog for architecture and urbanism.
