In 2009 the association co-organized a new cycle of concerts for saxophone, with the aim to get the interest of Slovenian public for this instrument and to increase interest in the study of this instrument. The mentioned concert series “Saksofon gre na pot” originally established in 2007 brought together both young Slovenian saxophonists as well as the established home saxophonists and ensembles.

The association organizes annual master studio workshops and an international saxophone competition “Saksistra” which takes place in [[Koper Music School]] and has several accompanying events, concerts and meetings. The categories at competition are age leveled.

The Saxophone Music Association was founded in 2002. It unites musicians, music educators and music fans, with its focus on education, promotion and the organisation of events connected with saxophone music and musicians. The Society seeks to popularize music and saxophone and affect cultural development and at the same time keeps high academic level, while it unites and promotes work of Slovene saxophonists. In 2006 they held 14th World Saxophone Congress in Ljubljana.
