At first the ceremony usually took place at the Prešeren Theatre Kranj. Since 1997 it was presented several times in Ljubljana at the Slovene Writers’ Association headquarters or in Cankarjev dom Culture and Congress Centre instead. In recent years, the ceremony has been accompanied by other activities dedicated to the poet Simon Jenko, including poetry readings, a symposium, exhibitions, and in 2009, a celebration of the 140th anniversary of his death. These events are known as Jenko Days (Slovenian: "Jenkovi dnevi").
