Tune in to the pulse of Slovenian music venues and festivals, recording studios and labels and take in the musical creativity of musicians, singers, composers and sound artists.

Širom

Širom is a mystical entity self-described as an "imaginary folk" act. They are currently one of the most internationally visible Slovenia bands, regularly touring Europe and beyond. Consisting of three self-taught musicians and experienced improvisers, their acoustic music ingeniously connects the dots between past and present, and takes inspiration from the realms of avant-folk, free improvisation and various global music traditions. The trio employs various techniques, practices and more than a dozen instruments, taking reference from vast libraries of ancient, new and made up sounds. With their imagination completely off the leash, Širom conjure some of the most thrilling and mysterious music of the moment. Their fourth album The Liquified Throne Of Simplicity received glowing reviews from various music media platforms and solidified their position as one of the most unique Slovenian post-independence bands.

Tinitus Institute

TINITUS Institute is committed to promoting healthy listening habits and preventing permanent hearing damage by raising awareness among individuals, particularly young people and those involved in the music environment. The organization aims to educate them about the potential risks of prolonged exposure to loud music and encourage the adoption of preventive measures to protect their hearing. TINITUS also advocates for the implementation of regulations that ensure a safe environment for performers and audiences, taking into account venue specifics and music genres. Their vision is a world where people can enjoy music without risking their hearing, and they believe that by raising awareness and collaborating with stakeholders, this vision can be achieved, positively impacting listening culture and public health.

The architectural complex of Križanke is one of the most popular (as well as most prestigious) open-air venues for performing arts in Ljubljana. It was created by Jože Plečnik in the 1950s within the abandoned former monastery especially for the Ljubljana Festival. With the major events held on its Open-air Stage, other Križanke venues include the amphitheatre-like southern courtyard with its vast retractable canopy, the Baroque-style Križanke Church, the Knight's Hall (Viteška dvorana) and the co-called "Infernal Courtyard" (Peklensko dvorišče).
