In 1967 the Music Schools of Koper, Piran and Izola became part of the Centre for Music Education, Koper. The oldest music school was Koper Music School, founded in 1948 in Portorož. Since 1951 it has been based in Koper and in 1955 it was allocated premises at the Gravisi-Barbabianca Palace, which was totally renovated in 1984. Today this is where the Centre for Music Education is located. A total of 23 instructors from this Centre are involved in music programme education within the secondary school programme of the [[Koper Grammar School - Ginnasio Capodistria]].
