Octex - an acronym for Organic Crackle and Tone Experiments - aka Jernej Marušič, has been experimenting with music since the late 1990s. Its first compilation was Eletrotehnika Slavenika that later mutated into Tehnika 1. One of Marušič's tracks from Tehnika 1 has already been noticed and played on the BBC. In 2002 he released his début album Idei Lahesna on Tehnika records, garnering high praise from both critics and public alike and getting his self-made video for the track Emergon played on TV stations such as VIVA and Onyx TV. In 2003 he received a Boomerang Award for best newcomer of the year, and for the second year in a row was selected as one of the 10 finalists for the Radio France International Electronic Music Award. Since that time he has become one of the most active Slovene live acts, performing at such prominent festivals as Club Transmediale, FutureSonic, ISEA, La Batie, Nuit Blanche and Exit, either as a solo artist or as part of the multimedia project Signal-Sever. Octex also plays regularly at Chilli Space events and at Klub K4 in Ljubljana. It has produced a track for the compilation Dunkelplatte on Swiss label STHLM Audio and has re-mixed the Laibach track Smrt za smrt.

In the following years he made a number of remixes for artists such as Marko Furstenberg, Gabriel Le Mar, Ultra-Red, Laibach (his remix fot theit track Smrt za smrt was released by the Mute label) etc. He appeared on numerous Slovene as well as foreign compilations. In December 2009 his latest album Every sound tells a story came out. It again was getting enthusiastic feedback and was selected by Radio Student as one of the five best albums of the year. Using field recordings and his newly nekaj modular synth collection, the album still hovers around the avant-grade with more than a hint of his club milje.
