Mission and projects
The Russian Centre in Maribor is one out of 73 similar world-wide centres, which were opened by the Russkiy Mir Foundation. One of the motives for the opening was the successful candidacy of the city of Maribor for the European Capital of Culture 2012.
The centre offers access to the literature in Russian, multimedia, textbooks, newspapers and Russian televison programmes. The centre was opened with the exhibition The First in Space [Prvi v vesolju] dedicated to the 50th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's first flight into space. The exhibition was shown also in Ljubljana and Nova Gorica.
