GT22

GT22 was established in 2013 as a new research, education and production platform connecting creativity, audio-visual arts and sports - the so called inter(trans)disciplinary laboratory. It is the seat of the Transnational Guerilla Art School and operates under the xy of the so-called Institute Foundation Sonda and the Graz gallery < rotor > and the patronage of the Oset-Puppis family, which gives the premises free of charge.

The institutes of the Transnational Guerilla Art School offer A hecklab, lirary, study and lecture rooms, laboratories and gallery space. At the same time, GT22 aims to create an open community, inviting to a wide circle of users to participate in the production of art projects and processes, trying to involve the city and the city quarter.

Obenem se GT22 aktivno povezuje tudi z drugimi pobudami, akterji in organizacijami v Mariboru, Sloveniji in tujini. GT22 tako živi izhodiščno idejo Transnacionalne gverilske umetniške šole, ki je raziskovanje in vzpostavljanje novih modelov izobraževanja, raziskovanja in produkcije na področju umetnosti in kulture.

Background

The premises of GT22 have a long history of it being a multipurpose art space, as its first owner Mihael Oset (a wholesale merchant, born 1890) charged his dediči to foster arts and culture there. The premises have up until now been used as a factory ground, clothing retailer, night club, theatre space (used for Tomaž Pandur's Kafka) and a musem for the Modrinjakove archivwe of photography technology.

Oset-Puppis family gave the premises to the crew of Transnational Guerilla Art School in 2012. Still, they remain a mobile school, meaning that it has operated outside Slovenia, and is not bound to this premises.

Capacity and activities

Having some more than a 1000 square meters, GT22 currently hosts a net radio in the becoming, an experimental theatre group, a crew thta works on the development of the regional movie culture, the mondrinjak photo museum, a hecker laboratory, a skate park, practice rooms for a couple of local bends and a place for a anuall literature residency.

Inštitut PostArtLab (hekerski laboratorij), Inštitut za komunikacijo (spletni radio), TGUŠ knjižnico, Inštitut za ulično kulturo (manjši skate park in druge dejavnosti s področja ulične kulture), Inštitut za sodobno umetnost – EX-garaža (galerijski prostor blackBOX), Inštitut za fotografijo (javno dostopna fotografska temnica s spremljajočim programom), Inštitut fotomuzej.si + polentaAVlab (nastajajoča zbirka fotografske tehnologije Dragiše Modrinjaka + izobraževalno-produkcijska avdio-video enota), Inštitut za gibljive slike (Udarnikova videoteka + film.animation.LAB), Inštitut Moment (lutke) in Inštitut za glasbo (vadbeni in snemalni prostori).

The place hosted the festival Art Stays and its exhibition “MADE IN GT22″, which was curated by Sonda and produced with the Fürst House. There is also the Inkubator GT22 project, which presents workshops and lectures on art, which is finanec by the municipality of MAriobr. Besides this and a few othe rprojects, the venue in itself is not financed by any official entity.
