The Architecture Museum of Ljubljana Library is a specialised library housed in Fužine Castle. It consists of domestic and foreign monographic and periodical publications from the fields of architecture, town planning, industrial and graphic design, and photography, with the main emphasis placed on Slovene authors and works created in Slovenia. For the Architecture Museum of Ljubljana is the guardian of the Plečnik Collection, the library holds all publications on the architect Jože Plečnik. It also offers an information/documentation service, and holds newspaper documentation relating to its areas of expertise. The library and reading room at Fužine Castle are open to the general public as well, though a prior appointment by telephone is preferred. Some of the material is also available for lending.
Background
The library was founded side by side with the Architecture Museum of Ljubljana in 1972 to focus on collecting material in the areas of the Architecture Museum's research and subjects of its departments. At first the library was located at the Plečnik House at Karunova street 4 in Ljubljana, in 1992 most of the material was moved together with the museum to Fužine Castle, keeping only the Plečnik library at the old address.
