Docomomo Slovenia co-operates with the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia and also links its activities with various educational programmes of the Faculty of Architecture, University of Ljubljana. The initiator and first coordinator was Dr Stane Bernik. In 2004 a reorganisation took place due to the current threats to the modern architectural heritage.

In 2004 the first Docomomo Symposium and study trip were organised under the title Docomomo - Slovenia Example, with participating 15 lecturers and 200 participants. This event involved a presentation of the first five Modernist buildings located in Slovenia, which had been listed in the Docomomo International Heritage Register.

In 2006 the second Docomomo Symposium was organised in Ljubljana under the title The Restoration of the Visible Concrete. This event presented and discussed various new themes, including the Tovarna Rog project, based in a former bicycle factory, plans for the restoration of the Trg Republike in Ljubljana, and some other Modernist architecture in Ljubljana, Murska Sobota and Mengeš.

The lectures of an international experts dealing with the renovation of Modern Movement architecture are organised yearly since 2005; in 2009 a lecture on Swedish after-war architecture was held in Ljubljana by Claes Caldenby, Professor at Chalmers University of Technology in Göteborgu (Sweden).

A monography Atlas Ravnikar was published by Docomomo Slovenia in 2007 at the 100 anniversary of Ravnikars’ birth. The authoress Nataša Koselj presents Slovene architect Edvard Ravnikar (1907–1993) and his opus as being the most important Slovene architect from the last half of the 20th century. The guide is in Slovene and English.
