The international festival of experimental audiovisual practices V-F-X Ljubljana (Video-Film-Experiment) was launched in 2021 by SCCA-Ljubljana Centre for Contemporary Arts and the Slovenian Cinematheque.
The V-F-X Ljubljana festival opened a space for experimental audiovisual practices. The idea of creating a new festival platform arose out of the need for such breakthrough AV creativity to be appreciated in environments more favorably disposed to experimentation. The festival does not start from scratch but leans on the shoulders of numerous exceptional filmmakers, video artists, and artists who create in moving images and are committed to experimentation. It presents existing platforms, festivals, and programs devoted to experimentation. The festival looks both forward and backward and does not seek winners but curators, programs, films, videos, installations, and performances that transcend the borders of the established and the classical, searching for new possibilities of expression and ways of using the medium.
