The Plečnik Fund, named after Slovenia's finest architect Jože Plečnik, since 1973 operates under the auspices of Architects' Society of Ljubljana (DAL), and grants annual awards and medals to highlight outstanding achievements in Slovene architecture. Its most important award is the Plečnik Award.

The Fund is led by the General Shareholders Assembly with representatives of numerous professional institutions and cultural associations (Urban Planning Institute, DESSA Architecture Centre, Chamber of Architecture and Spatial Planning of Slovenia, among others), faculties (Faculty of Architecture, Department of Landscape Architecture), municipalities, and sponsors; with a current major of Ljubljana being its chairman.

The Assembly annually selects the professional jury of various backgrounds and generations, so to impartially grant Plečnik Award to the best project. The Board of Directors of Plečnik Fund with its president is besides its general responsibilities also liable for preservation of Plečnik cultural heritage.
