Published annually since 1998, Studia Mythologica Slavica is a scientific journal, which aims to throw light on Slavic mythology from different points of view, to add to its reconstruction, and to present the mythopoetic and religious traditions of the Slavic nations. The journal is published by Institute of Slovene Ethnology at the Scientific Research Centre (ZRC SAZU) at Slovene Academy of Science and Arts. Since 1999 the journal is published in collaboration with the University of Udine from Italy.

The journal with an international advisory board publishes detailed analyses of Slavic mythopoetic traditions, and comparative studies on the mythology and religious notions of older Slavic, Eurasian and other civilisations. The character of the publication is both international and interdisciplinary, covering themes from the field of ethnology, philology, history, archaeology, religious studies, history of literature, and philosophy.

The published articles of each edition are available at the archive on their website. The texts are published in English or with summary in English.

So far, three monographies were published: Mordovian Mythology (Devyatkina), Pioneers of Jewish Ethnography and Folklore Studies in Eastern Europe (Bar-Itzhak) and Mirila/A Cultural Phenomenon (Pleterski, et al.).
