Infoshop Metelkova
History and background
Emerged from the infamous Ljubljana collectives A-mora and UZI (Urad za intervencije) members of the [A]Infoshop find their first organised attempts in the Cukrarna, Vila Mara, AC Molotov and Galicija squatting movements of Ljubljana.
Basic activities
The [A]Infoshop is opened on Wednesdays and Fridays from 5pm-8pm, as well some other days - when the programme is announced via the web site - [A]Infoshop offers a variety of events: regular Wednesday film evenings; vegan dinners (every second Tuesday); workshops; discussions; presentations; reading circles; concerts (Sam Stephens a.k.a. Sat Nav Sam, Vradiazei, etc.). This heart of Ljubljana's (social) anarchist, anarcho-communist, anarcho-feminist and other radical left activism and movement openly welcomes new ideas and iniciatives.
Members of [A]Infoshop publish the Avtonomija Magazine, as well as regular monthly bulletin called Okrožnica that brings information about the local activities, short articles from the world of social struggles, overview on the past activities in [A]Infoshop, book reviews and actual themata.
Library
Quickly growing library as well as archive of material culture (posters, flags, stickers, etc.) is also part of the [A]Infoshop. Mostly anarchistic and related literature, magazines, newpapers, fanzines and other publications are kept over there.
Distribution
The collective offers help in finding recent examples of anarchist magazines, newspapers and other publications. Revolutionary music tapes and CD's; T-shirts, sweat shirts, banners, stickers with subversive motifs; fair trade coffee from the Zapatista communites, honey, honey spirit can be occasionally found there.
Free shop
Shoes and clothing could be swapped freely and costless. Second hand goodies could be found when needed over there, the collective also welcomes used stuff for further disposal.
Internet and reading room
The collective supports free internet access and provides a quiet reading space.
Autonomous (self-)organisation
[A]Infoshop offers the space to the variety of different groups, in order to organise meetings, exchange ideas, and other activities: among them one finds local divisions of FAO (Federacija za anarhistično organiziranje) and AFI (Anarho-feministična iniciativa). Since its inception it collaborates with the International Feminist and Queer Festival Red Dawns by offering the place to host artists and also with the organisational help.
