The historic salt storehouse Monfort situated between Portorož-Portorose and Piran-Pirano, was built in the time of Napoleon between 1820 and 1845. During the last decade the space serves also as a magnificent exhibition space on the sea front.

One part of the grand space is taken by the "Monfort Contemporary Art Space" managed by the Obalne galerije - Coastal Galleries that organises there approximately 4 exhibitions annually.

Since 2011 Monfort houses also the collection of traditional shipbuilding and the development of water sports, managed by the Sergej Mašera Maritime Museum, Piran.

In 2015 a small-scale Museum of Tourism was set in Monfort.

The Monfort Hall rental is offered by the Municipality of Piran-Pirano.
