Max Club in Velenje, operating since 1991, organises and hosts concerts of various genres. Among appearances of Slovene and some foreign rock and pop music artists (Bajaga, Partibrejkers, Rambo Amadeus, Miladojka Youneed, Peter Lovšin, Magnifico, Anja Rupel, Strelnikoff, Defunkt, etc.) an important part of the club's concert activities is directed towards jazz music.

Max Club Jazz Festival

From 1999 till 2002 the club organised the Max Club Jazz Festival with the parallel Max Jazz Club Clinic, a series of workshops for young jazz musicians led by the late percussionist Boško Petrović. In March 2012 the club renewed the festival under the curatorship of saxophonist and composer Jure Pukl and producer Marko Kolšek within the Velenje Festival under the leadership of Maribor, European Capital of Culture 2012. The international programme featured Doug Johnson Trio, Kaja Draksler's BadBooshBand, Mike Sponza Blues Band, and others.

In March 2012 traditional jazz, some progressive copyright projects, blues, and electronic music were heard on the festival. The festival collaborated with one of Boško Petrović's former students – vibraphonist Vid Jamnik along with vocalist Mirna Bogdanović, saxophonist Adam Klemm, bassist Nikola Matošić, and percussionist Dušan Novakov.
