The Association of Slovene Photographers was established in 1973 with 68 members who are all professional photographers from various Slovene towns. Today it has around 500 members whose activities include education work, preserving the photography heritage and organising lectures, exhibitions and fairs.

One of the most known event realised in the organistion of the Association includes the annual Fotoantika fair at Križanke. In June 2010 the 33rd edition is again presenting the imporvised photo atelier to get impression of the art of taking pictures 100 years ago. The Photoantika offers possibility to sell or purchase old photo equipment. The organiser also prepares tarditional auction.

The Association of Slovene Photographers also co-operates with the Secondary School for Design and Photography, Ljubljana in developing its curriculum, and with the Chamber of Craft of Slovenia and other organisations related to photography. The Association of Slovene Photographers also publishes the magazine Fotografia:
