Modelled after the famous Hlebine in Croatia, Trebnje Gallery of Naïve Artists is the only gallery in Slovenia which specialises in naïve art. It displays works from its permanent collection of Slovene naïve, organises annual international meetings and promotes Slovene naïve art abroad. In 2004, at the World Exhibition of Naïve Art organised by UNESCO in Brno, the Gallery received a special mention from the jury.

The first meeting of naïve artists in Trebnje took place in 1967, and since that time the collection has grown to over 1000 works. The Gallery represents 250 artists from 35 countries in Europe, Africa, Asia, the two Americas and Australia. The 8 participants of the 43th edition in June 2010 were: Linden Dean(Australia), Mladen Kefelja (Croatia), Darja Lovak (Slovenia), Franco Mora (Italy), Samo (Slovenia), Darja Štefančič (Slovenia), Anton Zupančič (Slovenia), and Jan Žolnaj (Serbia). Each meeting features the solo exhibition, in 2010 Jože Horvat-Jaki exhibited under the title Rojstvo (rebirth of) Meduze his drawings commenced between 1965 and 1980.
