The roots of the Institute go back to 1994, when the Spatial Information Centre (PIC) was established within ZRC SAZU, headed by Dr Zoran Stančič. In 2004 the constant growth of PIC and expansion of areas of research resulted in its expansion into the Institute of Anthropological and Spatial Studies (IAPŠ).
The Institute is collaborating with the Slovenian Research Agency and is active international research cooperation (University of Franche-Comté from France, University of Dresden from Germany, University of Birmingham from Great Britan, etc.). Current research projects include Harmonization of object detection on optical satellite images, Europeanisation and ‘new’ regionalism on the ‘margins’ of Europe and Spatial dynamics of territories from Prehistory to Middle Age, and others.
The researchers at the Institute are publishing scientific articles and monographies, the contents and the presentations of the authors of the publications are accessible at the official website.
Culture.si offers information on Slovene cultural producers, venues, festivals and support services, all in one place. It encourages international cultural exchange in the fields of arts, culture and heritage. The portal and its content is owned and funded by the Ministry of Culture, funded by the European Union Recovery and Resilience Plan and developed by Ljudmila Art and Science Laboratory.
