Identity on the Line

2. 06. - 14. 07. 2022

Jens Bjørneboes plass, Kristiansand, Norway

Migration as physical movement is embedded in human nature. Europe is continuously transforming. All migration processes, even the very painful ones, lead to new cultural diversity, which can be seen as a positive force in today’s societies. Shared experiences empower the citizens of Europe and co-create our joint European identity, one based on the values of all of its individuals: respect for human dignity and human rights, freedom, equality, and democracy.

In “Identity on the Line”, the Vest-Agder Museum works closely with the National Museum of Contemporary History, Ljubljana, Slovenia: about migrants from the former Yugoslavia who came to Slovenia after the liberation in 1991, and about how new identities were created.
