After the Leipzig Book Fair fell victim to the virus three times in a row, the literary community is looking to the future with hope and is counting on a big revival in 2023 – with Austria as guest country. This is reason enough for us to organize a long night of literature in the garden of the Berlin Literary Colloquium on the shore of Lake Wannsee.
Southeastern Europe is not only historically closely linked to Austria, but is also a priority region for the Leipzig Book Fair. We have invited authors who live either in Austria or in neighboring countries. Because of the war in the Ukraine, the evening can probably not be a completely informal festival of literature. In the rounds of talks with Tanja Maljartschuk & Teresa Präauer (Moderation Katja Gasser, Artistic Direction Guest Country Project Austria), Barbi Marković & Goran Vojnović (Moderation Wiebke Porombka) and Noémi Kiss & Robert Prosser (Moderation Anne-Dore Krohn) it should not only about politics, but also about literature – and its possibilities in difficult times.
The evening will be musically accompanied by the Austrian jazz duo 4675.
