The “Puppet Theater Ljubliana” from Slovenia was founded in 1948 and is considered the most important puppet theater institution in the country. It is dedicated to continuing the long and fruitful tradition of Slovenian puppetry.

This very topical play takes the viewer into the world of a little girl trying to escape from war. She does this with a magic school board. Through her eyes, the audience sees how she perceives her city as a place of terror, violence and fear.

But the hope is within reach. Planes are flying over the city, the streets are empty, the grocery stores are empty and the school is closed. “Somewhere Else” conveys the absurdity of war in simple terms, from the perspective of children for children.

Using technical possibilities, the Ljubljana Puppet Theater combines classic character animation with live video projections and virtual drawings, a completely new technique in puppet theater that is as exciting for theater artists as it is for animators and filmmakers.
