Days of Comedy

Days of Comedy was inaugurated by the Slovene People’s Theatre (SLG) Celje in 1992. Over the nearly three decades of its existence, the festival rapidly outgrew its local context, evolving into the foremost event within the comedy genre in Slovenia. It showcases high-quality productions from both institutional and non-institutional Slovene theaters. Held annually in March, the festival's side program encompasses performances, concerts, and foreign productions.

Programme and awards

The program of the Days of Comedy is curated by a selector and includes both a competition and a side program. Performances in the competition program vie for Gracious Comedy Awards in four categories: gracious comedy performance, gracious comedy director, and two gracious actors (male and female). These awards are bestowed by the expert jury. Additionally, the festival presents the Gracious Comedy Feather Award for the best original Slovene comedy text. This award is given biannually and is selected by the jury appointed by the Slovene People’s Theatre (SLG) Celje. Furthermore, the festival features the Audience Award for the best comedy.
