Days of Comedy was inaugurated by the Slovene People’s Theatre (SLG) Celje in 1992. Over the three decades of its existence, the festival rapidly outgrew its local context, evolving into the foremost event within the comedy genre in Slovenia. It showcases high-quality productions from both institutional and non-institutional Slovenian theatres. Held annually in February, the festival's side programme encompasses performances, concerts and foreign productions.

Programme and awards

Curated by a selector, the performances in the competition programme compete for Gracious Comedy Awards in four categories: gracious comedy performance, gracious comedy director, and two gracious actors (male and female). An expert jury bestows these awards. Additionally, the Gracious Comedy Feather Award for the best original Slovenian comedy text is given biannually and selected by a jury appointed by the Slovene People’s Theatre (SLG) Celje. The Audience Award for the best comedy rounds out the festival's awards.
