The Serbian Community Association was established in 1992 and has a status of a public cultural society. It is part of the Union of Serbian Cultural Associations of Slovenia. The Association runs various cultural programmes, including panel discussions, literary evenings, exhibitions of work by Serbian artists and some stage performances (eg the Serbian Theatre Paradoks recently staged Belgrade Trilogy by Biljana Srbljanović and Paradoks by Nebojša Romčević at the Šentjakob Theatre in Ljubljana).

Performances by Serbian folklore groups from Maribor, Kranj, Celje, Ljubljana, Nova Gorica and Radovljica are held regularly at the Theatre for Children and Youth (GOML) and performances at festivals abroad are also organised. The folkloric group Moravac has already achieved widespread acclaim. The Association also engages in publishing activities, issuing the Srpske novine Monthly and the cultural newspaper Beseda in Serbian. The Association plans in future to establish a reading room and a library of Serbian literature and translations.
