Founded in [[Established::2013]] in response to a lack of programming and opportunities in the area of contemporary dance and performing arts in Maribor, the [[Association Nagib|Nagib Association]] has consistently searched for ways to create a sustainable environment for the development of contemporary dance practice through a variety of means, from hosting performances to running activities that support artists and their creative processes.

==Programme==

The [[Association Nagib|Nagib Association]] grew out of the [[NagiB Contemporary Dance Festival]], an annual festival for contemporary dance and performance art taking place in Maribor between 2005 and 2013.

====Nagib on Stage====

In 2014, the festival was transformed into a year-long cycle of performances called ''Nagib on Stage'', set up in the main regional theatre [[Narodni dom Maribor]] and other venues and realised in six seasons so far. Focusing on showcasing contemporary dance and theatre performances with emphasis on supporting the production of the independent scene, the programme includes also various side-projects intended as a platform to explore the performances' concepts and performers' practices in a more discursive format.

====Nagib to Process====

With season 2019/20, Nagib Association has again shifted the focus of its programming. A series of events called ''Nagib to Process'' is aimed at providing an environment for professional dance practice and promoting the wider understanding of artistic processes.


The association also regularly and successfully collaborates with the Maribor-based [[Drugajanje Festival]]. Since 2017 it is also involved in the international project ''Shifting Baselines'', co-organised in cooperation with [[Goethe-Institut Ljubljana]] and ''ArgeKultur Salzburg''.


In 2015, [[Petra Hazabent]], head of the association and curator of Nagib's programmes, received the [[Ksenija Hribar Award]], awarded by the [[Contemporary Dance Association Slovenia]] for her achievements as producer in the field of Slovene contemporary performing arts.
