Avsenik Gallery was founded in 1989 by academic painter [[Martin Avsenik]], the son of musician [[Slavko Avsenik]]. It is is located at the Avsenik homestead in [[Begunje]]. The [[Avsenik Ensemble]], an internationally-renowned Alpine folk music ensemble, has been awarded many prizes and the gallery features a permanent collection that presents the history of the ensemble and their international activities. The gallery has an area of 220 square metres and is divided into three sections. On the first floor of the old Avsenik homestead, one room is used for occasional exhibitions of work by renowned domestic and foreign artists, while the other room contains the permanent collection of gold records and other major awards from the 40 years of activities of the musicians Slavko and [[Vilko Avsenik]]. Other permanent exhibitions include work produced by the [[International Symposium of Painters]], an exhibition of the Children's Art Colony in Begunje and an exhibition of paintings based on titles of compositions by the Avsenik brothers. Besides the gallery there is a retail gallery and a receiving exhibition hall in which many eminent Slovene and international painters have been presented, for example [[presented in::Jože Šubic]], [[presented in::Maksim Gaspari]], [[presented in::Ivan Generalič|Ivan]] and [[presented in::Josip Generalič]], [[presented in::Janez Boljka]], [[presented in::France Slana|France]] and [[presented in::Domen Slana]], [[presented in::Dora Plestenjak]], [[presented in::Klementina Golja]], [[presented in::Lojze Spacal]], [[presented in::Salvador Dali]], some Dutch painters and also younger artists.
