Open Air Museum has 15 different relocated or reconstructed buildings and associated materials make up the museum space and form three separated sections. Homestead of poet Jože Šmid with the garden, outhouse with manure pit and field toilet, beehives, pig stable and hay rack. Administrative part are loden old shop with mixed merchandise that is today also a museum shop and office. In third part there is an domestic inn with wine cellar with bar called pušenšank surrounded with vines that give shadow and grapes.
Institution of Rogatec Heritage manages Open Air Museum Rogatec, Manor Strmol, Rogatec and sites in medieval town of Rogatec. Museum activities are combining and presenting local history and ethnology making interesting guiding tours, craft workshops, oenology experiences and horse riding expeditions. Because of interesting programmes for youth and grown ups it is one of the most visited museums in Slovenia, many visit the Open Air Museum Rogatec periodically depending on the time of the year and works that had to be done at that time. Internationally museum collaborates in European programme Museums Without Frontiers with open museums Freilichtmuseum Gerersdorf, Austria and Göcseji Falumúzeum Zalaegerszeg, Hungary making also common promotion.
